Arab woman caught red-handed in Dubai break-in
Dubai : An Arab woman who posed as a beggar has been arrested red handed and is now the prime suspect in a series of break-ins in Dubai, said police.
Dubai police today announced the arrest of the suspect, who is in her 30s, following several complaints from residents in various areas of the emirate.
Victims reported valuable items have been stolen from their apartments and they have found the lock of the main door broken.
On June 14, when a female victim returned to her apartment, she found the lock of the main door broken and found a strange woman in her bedroom looking through her valuables.
She struggled with the suspect, managed to control her and called the police.
Police said the suspect, identified as N.Z., has committed multiple thefts by posing as a beggar knocking from door to door to check if people are inside their homes.
Once she is certain no one is available, she covers the peep-holes on the doors of all neighbouring apartments to make sure no one will see her.
Police said that she used a large screwdriver and sometimes a crowbar to break into the apartment and steal whatever valuable items she finds and then takes a taxi to her residence in Al Bustan area in Ajman.
Col. Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Head, Dubai Police CID, said that in coordination with Ajman Police, the suspect's residence has been searched and the stolen items retrieved.
He said the items included expensive hand watches and jewellery.
