A competition created to show Arab jewellery designs and designers to the world has received more than 700 entries, including 111 from the UAE.
The Pan Arab Al Ibda'ul Hor contest was launched in September by the World Gold Council and the Saudi-based L'Azurde Factory for Gold and Jewellery.
Entries have been received from throughout the Arab world. World Gold Council Manager for the Gulf States D.V. Pathy said the response had been encouraging.
"We are very pleased with the response, especially from the Gulf countries, and this is an indication of the interest in young people from our region to develop jewellery design as one of their career options.
"The jewellery industry is now looking at the next logical step to launch international jewellery with the Arabic touch which will give immense scope for the future development of the industry."
The last date for entries is November 30. For further information log on to www.arabgoldcontest.com.
