Another city councillor killed

Another city councillor has been gunned down in Dhaka even as a special anti-crime drive is still on in the capital.

Unknown assailants shot Binoy Sarker Bina dead on Wednesday night, 12 days after councillor Saidur Rahman Newton was killed in the capital.

Bina and Newton were recently elected councillors to the Dhaka City Corporation. Both belonged to the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Intra-party conflicts led to the killings of the two ruling party activists who were accused in various criminal cases.

They were among 32 listed criminals who won the April 25 civil polls in Dhaka.
