Bed adornments, fitted sheets, artistic jewellery and more on display at Dubai exhibition
Design in any form, be it jewellery, clothing or bed adornments, appeals to the aesthetic sense of a woman. Taasya by Suman N. aims to fulfil this need of every contemporary woman with its exhibition of soft furnishings and artistic jewellery today and tomorrow.
"The inspiration for this collection comes from the realisation that a complete woman is the one who takes care to adorn herself and her home," says Suman.
Though she worked in the banking industry, designing was always her first passion. Diwali being the season of new beginnings, Suman chose this occasion to hold the exhibition.
"We have designed a unique collection of jewellery and luxurious furnishings for the home. From fitted sheets to bed frills, innovative pillow cases, cushions and all bed adornments, these exclusive designs give people the freedom tochoose their own options in terms of colour, design and fabric to match their existing decor," says Suman.
Unique amongst the soft furnishing collections are the bed skirtings. A commodity rarely found in Dubai, these skirtings are ideal to cover the worn out or uncoordinated bottom parts of our beds giving them a finished and smart look.
The bed skirtings come with matching bed and cushion covers and can be made to order. Care has been taken that there is no compromise on the quality of materials used and the sets are reasonably priced. "The main idea being that small changes revamp the entire concept of our surroundings."
As far as jewellery is concerned, the manufacturing is inspired by the ancient Indian concept of basing 22 carat gold over non-ferrous metals like brass, copper and silver.
The jewellery on display reflects the ancient craftsmanship with creations in pure art forms like thewa - jewellery on glass, goph necklaces, meenakari beads embellished with semiprecious stones and pieces with kundan, bilandi and zardozi thread work. All these are artistically combined to give sets that are synonymous with the grandeur of ancient royalty. The price ranges between Dh215 to Dh350.
"This line of jewellery looks completely original and is durable because each piece has two to three grams of gold based upon it," explains Suman, who intends to hold regular exhibitions.
