Dubai: Beginning November 1, all visa applications to Thailand will have to be done online through the consulate’s official website.

Based on a memo from the Royal Thai Consulate General-Dubai, each applicant must fill out and sign a visa application form which can be downloaded from the consulate’s new website (www.thaiconsulatedubai.com).

They should also get an appointment online, have it printed, and bring it along with the completed application form and other documentary requirements on the appointment date.

Physical appearance at the consulate is also required and representatives will no longer be honoured, except for children below the age of 12.

“This new online visa application system will take effect beginning 1st of November,” an official from the Consulate told Gulf News.

“We will give applicants some time to know about this new procedure, but after that, all visa application should be done online,” the official added.

The new procedure is being introduced to cut down on waiting times for applicants. About 100 visas are processed daily, reaching 200 during peak times.

“We’re trying to make it easier for both sides. Once they accomplish the requirements, they can come at their appointment time. So they won’t have to wait for too long. During peak times, some have to wait for two and a half hours,” the official said.
