Al Wahda defeated Dibba Al Fujairah 3-0 in Group B of the President's Cup competition yesterday and squandered no less than ten goals in the first match. The team plays under the guidance of Dutch coach David Marinos.
Al Wahda, playing at their home stadium, Al Nahyan, took complete control of the match.
As early as the sixth minute they took the lead when Ahmed Abdulla, the player of the UAE under 20 team, fired a 30 yarder that was deflected by the upleft into the other corner of the net for the opener.
Then eight minutes later the home team added their second goal.
Dibba defender, Yasir Khamis, fouled Christian Antonio, outside the penalty box and the Chilean striker sent a cunning curling shot into the upper side of the net as the game's best goal. The home team's player were guilty of complacency as they took Dibba for granted.
They started to show their individual ball control and every one was trying to score a goal. The outcome was squandering all the easy chances that came their way. Haste, selfishness and some good goalkeeping from Dibba's custodian, Jumaa Mallullah the brother of Ramadan the Al Wahda reserve goalkeeper, deprived the home team from more goals in the first half.
Seven minutes after the interval, Christian crossed from the left flank and Iraqi professional striker, Younus Mahmoud, brought the ball down on his chest before placing it in the goal for his team's third.
From that moment, Al Wahda returned again to squandering the sitters and failed to translate their dominance into more goals.
They earned nine corner kicks in the second half only against a single one for their opponents which indicated their complete control of the match. Al Wahda increased their tally to 19 points from 9 matches while Dibba remained with only two from 8 matches.
Al Jazira leads the group with 20 points from 8 matches and play at home today against Dibba Al Hisn.
