Al Joker defeats Abdulla; Adil prevails over Shabbir

There were contrasting triumphs for Adil Mohammed Ali and Shabbir Hussain in the 21st Sharp-Cosmos UAE Open snooker championship at the Indian Sports Club here on Tuesday.

Neat positional play marked the opening frames which saw Adil Mohammed Ali clinch the first and second frames 69-16, 73-45 only to see Shabbir claw back for a 89-9 and 58-49 win in the third and fourth frames respectively.

Shabbir also had a fine break of 60 in the third frame. But Adil kept his cool and showed some excellent game to finish the final frame 67-24 with a fine break of 50.

In another match, Roshan D'souza had a comfortable win over Salim Ali Salim. Salim Ali Salim won the first frame 58-40.

In the second frame Roshan gathered his momentum, kept his cool and displayed some excellent shots to win the second frame 73-36.

Roshan continued with his excellent form and to finish the third frame 52-25. Roshan was unstoppable in the fourth frame. He played some brilliant shots and finished the fourth frame 58-25.

In another encounter second Seed Mohamme Al Joker had a comfortable win over Juma Abdulla in three straight frames 62-29, 56-16, 83-4.
