The Bahraini female rally driver Yasmin Al Hilli and Batelco will participate in the UAE Desert Challenge. This follows the 22-year-old's triumph last week when she won the Jordan International Rally Ladies Trophy.

The UAE Desert Challenge, which is a four-day event, will be Yasmin's most daunting rally event so far. The Gulf's first-ever competitive female international rally driver said: "I think the prize for success in this rally is survival itself."

Yasmin almost pulled out of the Jordan event because of last-minute mechanical failure, but her sponsors Batelco stepped in and enabled her to compete.

After attending St Christopher's School in Bahrain, Yasmin studied sports management in New Zealand, followed by finance and marketing at Bahrain University. She was also captain of the university's College of Business basketball team.
