Dr Ghanem Al Hajri, director general, Sharjah Airport Authority, has been re-elected chairman of Airports Council International for a further two-year term at the general assembly meeting held recently in Montreal.
He is the only Arab to be elected to this post, and is also the only sitting chairman to be re-elected.
"It is a great honour for our region, and for the UAE in particular, and reaffirms the confidence this world body has placed in his leadership and strategies, and the vision he has put forward for the global growth of aviation and ACI's role in it," noted Robert Tabet, deputy director general, in a brief statement.
