UAE based company to provide one million meals to hungry children
Dubai: With hopes of fighting child hunger this Ramadan, Ajmal Perfumes will provide one million meals to hungry children through UN’s World Food Programme (WFP).
Ajmal Perfumes ‘Mission Million’ initiative in support of WFP, the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger, aims to collect a total of one million Dirhams to feed hungry school children everyday.
Ajmal Perfumes will donate a meal to WFP’s school meals programme every time a customer makes a purchase at Ajmal. It costs WFP only one Dirham to feed a hungry child a day.
“The Holy month of Ramadan is the time for introspection, a time of giving and helping those in need and we thought why not donate a percentage of our earnings to fight hunger that inflicts so much strife around the world,” said Abdulla Ajmal, General Manager, Sales & Marketing at Ajmal Perfumes.
“We hope that with this programme, Ajmal will play a pivotal role, by supporting the world’s largest humanitarian agency, WFP, in fighting child hunger,” he added.
Ashraf Hamouda, regional head of partnerships and business development for the World Food Programme said: “WFP is proud to be Ajmal’s partner for such a worthy cause. The ‘Mission Million’ campaign is only just the beginning of a fruitful collaboration to help eradicate hunger.”
According to WFP, $3.2 billion is needed per year to reach all 66 million hungry school-age children with school meals.
Each year WFP feeds more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries. Today, around 870 million people do not get enough food to lead a healthy and active life.
