2,748 leave for foreign jobs daily

An average of 2,748 overseas Filipino workers left for work abroad daily, from January to April 17, 2002.

The Labour Department said the number exceeded the 2,551 daily deployment for the same period last year.

There are about five million Filipinos working overseas. They remitted $6.23 billion to the Philippines in 2001, a 3.05 per cent increase from 2000, said Labour Secretary Arturo Brion.
