12 sentenced to jail for adultery in two cases

Twelve people have been sentenced to various jail terms in two cases. In the first case, police were tipped-off that a music store had been turned into a brothel. Police monitored the shop and arrested three Chinese women and a Pakistani man.

The women were sentenced to three years for running a shop as a brothel and adultery. Each was fined Dh10,000 for selling pirated CDs.

The Pakistani was sentenced to six months for living with the women illegally and helping them run the brothel. They will be deported after serving their terms. The shop has been ordered to be shut and the CDs seized.

In another case, six Chinese women were sentenced for committing adultery with a Filipino and a Pakistani. A Chinese woman and a Filipino were sentenced to one year for adultery and sexual assault.

The other five Chinese women and a Pakistani were sentenced to six months for committing adultery. They will be deported after serving their sentences. The court acquitted them of running their house as a brothel.
