Dubai: Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, who is making his debut for India in the fourth Test against England, once achieved a rare and remarkable feat in domestic cricket—taking all 10 wickets in a single innings of a Ranji Trophy match.

This incredible performance came in November last year, when Haryana faced Kerala at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Stadium in Lahli. Kamboj delivered a sensational spell, finishing with figures of 30.1 overs, 9 maidens, 49 runs, and 10 wickets.

With this achievement, the 24-year-old became only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to claim all ten wickets in an innings. The two others who had done it before him were Bengal’s Premangsu Chatterjee in the 1956–57 season and Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam in 1985–86.

In all of Indian first-class cricket, Kamboj is just the sixth player to reach this milestone—joining the ranks of legendary leg-spinners Subhash Gupte and Anil Kumble, as well as Odisha seamer Debasis Mohanty.

Hailing from Karnal in Haryana, a region better known for producing boxers, Kamboj’s cricket journey began on open fields. He only started taking the sport seriously at the age of 14. In under a decade, he has risen through the ranks, representing Haryana, breaking into the Indian Premier League, and now earning his first India cap.

Kamboj made his first-class debut for Haryana in February 2022 during the Ranji Trophy. His impressive domestic performances caught the eye of IPL scouts, and earlier this year, Chennai Super Kings picked him up for Rs34 million in the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah. He played eight matches this season, claiming eight wickets at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 8.

His call-up to the Indian Test squad came amid injury concerns surrounding pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep.
