Dubai: The speed limit on the newly opened Al Mafraq-Al Ghuwaifat highway has been announced to be 160km/h, Abu Dhabi Police said on Tuesday.
The new speed limit was implemented on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road from January 24.
The speed limit on the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road from Mafraq Bridge to Ghuwafat for light vehicles will be 160km/h and the speed radars will capture at 161km/h.
Brigadier Ali Al Daheri, director of central operation sector of the police, the Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road connects the country to the neighbouring countries and it’s considered to be one of the strategic roads of Abu Dhabi that helps international commercial vehicular movements.
This road will further enhance the social, environmental and economic developments among bordering countries, he said.
Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road has four lanes in each directions, which facilitates smooth flow of traffic, he said.
The police said the number of fixed and moving radars were also increased on the road.
The police urged all motorists to adhere to the new speed limit and traffic rules.
