Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Energy and Industry on Monday announced new fuel prices for the month of May, with prices set to go up compared to April.

The new per litre prices for April — including VAT (5 per cent) are: Super 98 — Dh2.49 (Dh2.33 in April), Special 95 — Dh2.37 (Dh2.22 in April), E Plus 91 — Dh2.30 (Dh2.14 in April), and Diesel — Dh2.56 (Dh2.40 in April).

The fuel prices are set according to international oil prices which have been trading at higher prices in recent weeks as Opec’s (Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) agreement with non-Opec members to cut oil production by 1.8 million barrels per day continues to balance the market. Recent political tensions in the Middle East have also contributed to higher prices.

Global benchmark Brent was trading at $73.03 per barrel at around 3pm UAE time and US crude West Texas Intermediate at $67.35 per barrel.
