Dubai: As Filipinos around the world celebrated the Philippines' 120th Independence Day on Tuesday, a group of Filipino expatriates marked the day with their proudest rendition of the country's most popular song.

More than 40 Filipinos gathered in Dubai ahead of celebrations on Tuesday to sing their most passionate rendition of the Philippine national anthem Lupang Hinirang.

They showed up in various traditional Filipino wear to represent the country's diverse ethnic groups.

It's a musical celebration of more than three centuries of freedom from colonial rule. On June 12, 1898, the Philippines proclaimed its independence from Spanish colonisers.
