Dubai: From iftar meals to clean water projects, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has held several initiatives to mark Zayed Humanitarian Day.
The DHA collaborated with Dar Al Ber society to build 100 wells to provide clean drinking water to people in different countries.
They also distributed food coupons to 500 families and meals worth Dh127,440 during Ramadan.
The DHA has also launched ‘Save a Heart’ initiative and so far 25 patients have benefited from it.
“The Zayed Humanitarian Day reinforces the commitment of the UAE’s leadership and people to all the values and principles embodied by Shaikh Zayed. Our founding father was known regionally and globally for his humanity, generosity and charity. The UAE is known globally for its philanthropic work and we will continue our humanitarian initiatives to the best of our ability,” said Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of DHA.
During Ramadan, the DHA is conducting a voluntary clinic at Latifa Hospital that provides free gynaecological consultation and surgeries worth Dh500,000. Last year, the clinic treated 176 patients.
Additionally, the DHA has launched the kidney initiative to help patients with financial difficulties. It will cover the cost for five days of dialysis that amounts to approximately Dh7,539 per patient. The initiative’s aim is to help 10 patients per month. Patients with chronic kidney disease will also receive dialysis and this will cost approximately Dh12,000 per patient.
The DHA will also sponsor five ICU patients per month. The authority will cover the cost of Dh5,000 for 10 days of ICU stay per patient.
