Dubai: Tas’heel Customer Service Centres in Ajman have started the domestic worker services from Sunday, which include the issuance of new entry permits, work permits, residency and work permit renewal services.

The employment of domestic workers had so far been regulated by the Ministry of Interior, which oversaw their employment and handled all matters related to their jobs. Under a new law, all domestic workers will now be regulated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, like the rest of the expat workforce in the UAE.

Aisha Bel Harfia, Assistant Undersecretary of Domestic Worker Affairs, affirmed the centres’ readiness to receive customers in Ajman, “Three centres will offer domestic worker services through 10 dedicated counters to ensure meeting the UAE Government Excellence Programme standards.”

“In coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Tas’heel Customer Service Centres will oversee a complete transfer of domestic workers’ files to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and provide services in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah,” she added.

“We process requests electronically send an SMS or email to the customer about the status of the application.

Domestic workers include housemaids, cooks, security guards, drivers, gardeners and shepherds.
