Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday issued an administrative decision, setting up the Board of Directors for Research, Technology and Innovation Park Free Zone Authority.
Decision No. 15 of 2017 stipulates that the Board of Directors of the Free Zone Authority will be headed by the Ruler of Sharjah, and a number of members.
In accordance with the resolution, the board shall elect a vice-chairman from among its members during its first meeting.
The decision shall be effective from the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette. Any provision contrary to the provisions of this law shall be repealed.
Dr Shaikh Sultan chaired the first meeting of the Board of Directors for Sharjah’s Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) “Free Zone Authority” in the meeting hall of the American University of Sharjah (AUS).
During the meeting, Sharjah Ruler adopted the names of the members of the Board of Directors after obtaining the approval of the AUS’s Board of Trustees.
The board is to be chaired by Dr Shaikh Sultan and includes nine members.
The board approved the budget and park strategy as well as the organisational structure and work plan for the next phase. It also reviewed the work development in the facilities of the main building.
Shaikh Sultan issued instructions to activate public-private partnership in the fields of research, development and technology in a manner that boosts cooperation between the academic sector and the various sectors of society.
