Abu Dhabi: The arrival of bodies of the UAE soldiers martyred in Yemen last Friday ocompleted yesterday as seven more bodies were brought at the Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, after their identification in the Saudi Arabia.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced that a total of 52 UAE soldiers were martyred last Friday in Yemen. It had earlier announced that 45 soldiers had died in Yemen and their bodies arrived early last week.

A special military ceremony was held while receiving the bodies of the martyrs at the airport where a number of senior Armed Forces officers attended the event.

Emirati soldiers were martyred while performing their national duty as part of the Armed Forces’ involvement in the Saudi-led Arab coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope carried out by the Saudi-led Arab coalition to back the legitimate government of Yemen and drive out the Al Houthi rebels,

The incident took place at an arms depot at a military base in the eastern province of Marib in central Yemen, near the border with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia and a coalition of other Arab states have been fighting since March to restore to power the legitimate government of President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
