Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, launched four community initiatives to improve the quality of life and social welfare of citizens.

He also approved Dh3 billion to develop essential community facilities and service amenities in Khalifa City, Mohammad Bin Zayed City, Shakhbut City and Zayed City.

As per Shaikh Mohammad’s directives, the lands that are not under infrastructure schemes will be included within the existing citizens’ housing areas, in addition to studying the development requirements and community facilities in other residential areas in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra and Al Ain.

The community initiatives also aim to ensure social stability and strengthen the foundations of a voluntary humanitarian community that enjoys a sense of individual and collective responsibility towards society.

Shaikh Mohammad ordered the launch of the Abu Dhabi Social Support programme that aims to enhance standards of living and a decent life for citizens. The Executive Committee of the Executive Council is tasked with developing a detailed programme that includes aspects of financial support to eligible families, before the end of this year.

Shaikh Mohammad instructed the authorities concerned to increase the number of housing loans to 5,000 annually. He also gave orders to amend Abu Dhabi’s housing policy in alignment with the needs of citizens and provide them with adequate housing, while facilitating procedures and reducing the waiting period for land and housing loans.

The housing policy must take into consideration citizens’ incomes, with regards to the payment mechanism, to ensure the social stability of Emirati families.

Shaikh Mohammad launched a new social authority called ‘Ma’a’ (Together), which will be responsible for activating social participation and contribution by various strata of society, including Emirati citizens, expatriate residents and institutions.

The initiative aims to support the efforts of government institutions to promote volunteerism and social work in the emirate, due to the importance of humanitarian work laid by the founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The initiative is supported and followed by the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
