Abu Dhabi: March 15 of every year will be the celebrated as the Emirati Children’s Day, it was announced on Sunday.
The Ministerial Development Council has adopted March 15 as the Emirati Children’s Day, which coincides with the approval of the Child Protection Law 3, popularly called Wadeema law on March 15, 2016.
The move aims to emphasise the UAE’s vision and its concern to nurture future generations and overcome all difficulties that prevent their development and having proper education that qualify them to be good and effective members of society. It also comes in line with the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Centennial Plan 2071.
The Emirati Children’s Day was approved by the Ministerial Development Council during its meeting held on Sunday at Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The Emirati Children’s Day is an initiative launched by Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, as part of the national strategy for motherhood and childhood and the strategic plan for boosting the rights and development of children with disabilities 2017-2021.
During the meeting, the Council discussed a range of issues related to government affairs, improving the performance of the federal agencies, as well as the development of government services and the work progress in the federal government.
The council also discussed a draft federal law on mental health and the issuance of executive regulations of the Federal Law on combating commercial fraud.
The council spoke about the issuance of executive regulations of the Federal Law on the control of trade in precious stones and metals.
The proposed draft regulations include several regulatory provisions to control the trade in valuable stones and precious metals, as well as the imposition of deterrent penalties to guarantee the rights of all parties, while maintaining the country’s high reputation in this trade and increasing the attractiveness of investments in this field.
The Council reviewed the draft resolution on the Haj and Umrah system, and the development of regulations and procedures in line with the approved e-route program for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The Council submitted to the Cabinet its recommendations on the adoption of the organisational structure of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Federal Tax Authority, in addition to discussing a number of other topics on its agenda.
