Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday attended the graduation of the fourth batch of the Future Leaders Programme at the Presidential Palace.

Addressing the graduates, Shaikh Mohammad said: “The future leader is an exceptional leader, and we believe that young Emiratis are capable of anticipating variables and dealing with challenges.”

He added: “We are a young country that seeks to build a better future for generations to come, and our confidence is high in our young people who are expected to motivate teams in entities they work for.”

The Future Leaders programme is part of the wider UAE Government Leaders Programme, which was launched by Shaikh Mohammad in 2008.

He congratulated the graduates and said: “Our youth are the UAE’s renewable wealth, and that capacity-building and development of UAE leaders is an approach focusing on humans as the key driver of the preparing for the future.”

The Vice-President went on to say: “Leading the future leadership is not a government job but is a skill and a lifestyle based on innovative solutions to tomorrow’s challenges.”

He told the young leaders: “Responsibility for future leaders is great, and we are counting on you to lead in line with an ambitious and far reaching vision for the future.”

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. The UAE Government Leaders Programme includes the Strategic Leaders Programme, Executive Leaders Programme,Future Leaders Programme and the UAE Youth Programme, all of which aim to empower and prepare competent young nationals to lead the country’s future across all strategic sectors.
