Dubai: More than 2,000 workers in Dubai will celebrate International Day of Happiness on Tuesday with Indian actors and singers and will get a chance to win six air tickets as part of an initiative by Dubai Police.

Major General Al Salal Saeed Al Falasi, director of Administrative Affairs Department in Dubai Police, said that under directives of Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the activities will be held at labour camps in Jebel Ali, Al Muhaisnah, Al Quoz and Zabeel Park from 3 to 7pm.

“We will surprise them with many sport and entertainment activitie. There will also be a draw for six tickets offered by Fly Dubai to any destination,” Major General Al Falasi said.

Vouchers, prizes, sport activities and free medical checks will be a part of the celebrations in which actors and singers will participate.

“We have future plans to build sport play ground for workers in their labour camps. We want them to be happy because they are our partners in building Dubai,” he added.

Actor Tiny Tom, south Indian actress Meera Nandan, actor and TV presenter Midhun Ramesh and singer Amrutha Suresh will participate in the event.

“We always appreciate what the workers are doing for the city,” he added.

Traffic, law and medical awareness sessions will be presented during the event and workers will be transferred to the four locations by buses.

Meanwhile, Awatif Al Suwaidi, head of Positivity and Happiness Council in Dubai Police, said they had already built a playground in Al Muhaisnah for sport activities and were keen to celebrate Happiness Day with the workers.

“Such activities will help them psychologically and physically, drain away any negative energy and replace it with positivity,” Al Suwaidi said.
