Dubai: The UAE Cabinet will issue a law making it mandatory for all buildings and houses in the UAE to be part of new smart fire safety project called “Hassantuk”, an official said on Tuesday.
Major General Jasem Mohammad Al Mazrouqi, General Commander of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, said that the project, will provide end-to-end fire safety solutions in every villa and building in the UAE.
“The UAE cabinet will issue a law to make it mandatory for all buildings and houses to be part of ‘Hasantuk’ system. They will be connected 24x7 to the command room of Civil Defence departments for quicker response without human intervention,” Maj Gen Al Mazrouqi said during a press conference held in Gitex.
The new project, called ‘Hassantuk for Villas’, is a major initiative linking homes to the Civil Defence’ operation rooms, to alert them in the event of a fire. Lt Gen Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, launched the project in the capital earlier this month.
Hassantuk (“Protect You” in Arabic) optimises fire and emergency response through a fire alarm system, using advanced Artificial Intelligence smart technologies.
The existing Hassantuk website incorporates plenty of new details for linking all kinds of residential and commercial establishments in the country to Civil Defence operation centres.
“The system will be on MOI application within a month. We linked 900 buildings to the system so far and our aim is to connect 150,000 buildings in the near future,” Maj Gen Al Mazrouqi added.
He said in recent times they had detected that casualties in house fires were caused due to smoke, and smoke detectors in the new system will help reduce such casualties.
“Our children are more important and people should use certified smoke detectors in houses,” he said. “Most incidents happened at night while people were sleeping/. In the new system, the smoke detectors will alert command rooms immediately for quick response to help save lives,” he said.
Etisalat is the service provider for the Hassantuk for Villas project, and has done special networking for the project.
Residents, outlets and offices can also get their premises linked to the Civil Defence, within just two days after registering on the website, he said.
New MOI Smart Services:
MOI unveiled 24 updated smart services to complement the myriad smart services provided through its MOI-UAE app on the sidelines of the 38th edition of “Gitex Technology Week 2018”.
These new services target the Civil Defence sector’s corporate and individual customers and aim to promote smart services, in keeping with the MoI’s smart transformations strategy to fully automate its processes.
Brigadier Eng. Hussain Ahmad Al Harithi, Director General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services and Chairman of the MOI’s Council for Smart Services and Artificial Intelligence, said that the new smart services are available on the ministry smart app MOI-UAE. The services offered by the General Command of Civil Defence and target both individuals and companies. As many as 1,580,000 people are already using the ministry’s app, which reflects the ministry’s keenness to avail modern approaches and smart techniques to offer innovative services,” Brig Al Harithi said.
The main services include the “licensing facilities working in the preventive safety field” such as the issuance and renewal of licenses, “preventive safety services for hazardous materials” such as approving of vehicles for hazardous materials transport, “requirements of prevention and safety in buildings and facilities” such as issuance, renewal and procurement, “paying fines”, and “spreading awareness and training in the field of Civil Defence” aimed at all segments of society.
