Abu Dhabi: The Executive Committee of Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved the reduction of tourism fees from 6 per cent to 3.5 per cent and municipality fees from 4 per cent to 2 per cent.

The committee also endorsed the reduction of municipality fees for hotel rooms from Dh15 to Dh10 per room and per night. The fees will also be collected half-yearly, instead of monthly.

The fees reduction comes as part of the Abu Dhabi Development Accelerators Programme launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The committee, chaired by Jasem Mohammad Buatabh Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, approved a proposal on the reduction that was earlier submitted by Mohammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi.

The move, which followed a series of meetings and discussions conducted by the department with local investors, aims to provide high-end tourist, leisure and cultural facilities at the best possible value for residents and tourists in Abu Dhabi.

It also aims to continue plans for investment in tourism infrastructure and attract investors to construct and develop tourist and entertainment facilities that would add to Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading tourism destination.
