Sharjah/Ras Al Khaimah: Three Emirati men died in two separate road accidents on Saturday night.

In the first deadly accident, two young Emiratis died in a horrific car-truck collision in Sharjah, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The accident took place on Saturday night on Al Dhaid Industrial Area road.

The police central operation room received call around 9.30pm about the accident.

Police patrols and ambulance rushed to the accident scene and found one of the accident victims had died on the spot, while the other died shortly being admitted to the hospital. 

The victims, both aged 19, are national service recruits from Khor Fakkan.

The accident occurred as the victims were on their way to join a military training camp.

They were buried in Al Sharq cemetery on Sunday after Duhur prayers.

Elderly man dies in RAK run-over accident

Meanwhile, 85-year-old Emirati man has died after being run over by a speeding car while crossing a road on Airport Road in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday evening, Ras Al Khaimah Police said.

Lt Col. Salem Rashid Shuma, Head of Al Dgdaga Police station, said the man was run over by a 25-year-old Emirati woman in front of one of the commercial shops while the man was crossing the road. 

A police patrol and paramedics arrived on the scene after the police operations room was alerted about the incident at 8pm.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver is in custody and is being questioned at the police station.

Lt. Col. Shuma appealed to all to observe road safety rules and drivers are urged to give priority to people crossing roads.

He also urged all community members to cross from places allocated to pedestrian for their safety.
