Dubai: Thinking of pursuing a university degree in the United States?

Families and students considering post-secondary studies in the US are invited to a two-pronged education fair being hosted by the American Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Friday evening, and in Dubai on Saturday.

Dubbed the American Education Expo education fair, the embassy is hosting the events in partnership with International Student Network (ISN).

As many as 14 American universities are taking part in the expo and are sending representatives to help potential students explore the latest programmes and fields of study at their campuses.

In a statement from the American Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the mission said: “US university representatives will be present at the event to discuss educational opportunities and to provide information on university admissions, the enrolment process, academic programmes, and visa procedures. The American Education Expo education fair is free of charge and open to the public.”

The embassy said accredited US universities and educational institutions will present university programmes from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, September 28, in Abu Dhabi at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara, and in Dubai from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday, September 29, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Dubai Festival City.”

The embassy said that for students who can’t make it to the education expo, they can visit what are called EducationUSA Advising Centers in the UAE located at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate General in Dubai which can also be explored online at educationusaAD@state.gov and educationUSADubai@state.gov.

“Education advisers offer free college counselling and advice to students, specialised information sessions to guidance counsellors, and resources and information on upcoming educational fairs and events in the UAE,” the embassy said. “The EducationUSA Advising Centers host live-stream webinars on various topics and fields of study in the United States.”
