Dubai: JSS Private School in Dubai recently won first prize in private schools category of the Dubai Customs IP Award for Schools and Universities 2017/18.

The winning project of the Indian curriculum school, titled ‘Engineering Intellectually, Change reinvented’, was a campaign aimed at measuring the coming generation’s awareness of Intellectual Property Rights and educating the public about the risks of counterfeiting on consumers’ health and the country’s economy.

The campaign educated the public about the difference between forgery and counterfeiting, as well as differentiation between trademark, copyright, patent, industrial design, geographical location, and other topics.

The project team consisted of five students and two faculty members. The students involved include Preethika Ramesh, Ricky Anil, Len Shaji, Amrith Suresh, and Amith Mazin Shabeel. The faculty members involved were Gwen Dickson and Leena Shiju.
