Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and police raided an apartment in Abu Dhabi where a ladies salon was operating without a licence.

The police seized equipment and issued fines to the staff who were working in the salon without licences.

Ahmad Tarish Al Qubaisi, acting director of the commercial protection division at the department, said the department received a tip-off that an unlicensed ladies beauty salon was being run from an apartment in Abu Dhabi and the inspectors raided the apartment and confiscated equipments used in the salon.

Such commercial activities require especialised licences from the concerned health authorities of the emirate and staff in the salon should also obtain certificates to practice in a beauty salon for females, he said.

However, the department referred the case to the concerned authorities for further legal action.

He urged community people to be cautious from such unauthorised practitioners who play with people’s health.
