Dubai: Two engineers have been accused of bid to kidnap a student whom they met at a landmark hotel and groping her as she threw herself out of their car.

The 20-year-old Saudi student was said to have met three men at the hotel’s door that leads to the beachside at 2am.

One of the men chatted with the student, according to records, before he talked her into adding him on Snapchat.

While doing so, the man threw up in front of the student before one of his friends took him away and the other friend stood there chatting with the student.

The other friend who had taken away the man who had vomited returned there, and the two suspects convinced the student to go with them to a nearby gas station to buy some food. The two suspects bought food while the student got cigarettes from the store at the gas station.

Records said the two friends, an Emirati and an Iranian, drove their car towards the beachside near Burj Al Arab and they went out to to eat the food.

The student then asked the two suspects to drive her back to the hotel but when they didn’t respond to her request and she saw them whispering, she got scared and went into the car, said records.

The suspects joined her in the car and when one of them groped her, she pushed his hand away and tried to leave the car.

The two suspects tried to pull her back into the car, according to records, before she jumped out of the car.

As the two suspects tried to get her into the car, the student freed herself and ran away towards the street, where spotted a police car.

The student told policemen about the incident and they accompanied her to the beach.

Primary police interrogations led to the arrest of the two suspects.

Prosecutors charged the suspects of attempted kidnap and groping the student while pulling her into the vehicle.

The suspects pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The student to prosecutors that the incident happened after she met the suspects at the hotel in Jumeirah.

“I asked them to drop me back at the hotel. When they didn’t respond and saw them whispering, I suspected that they must have been planning something … I tried to 911 from my phone but could not do so. The two suspects came to the car … the Emirati sat beside me. He groped me but I pushed his hand away and tried to leave the car. The Iranian suspect blocked my way. They tried to force me into the car and they groped me while doing so. I resisted them and jumped out of the car … I ran away and came across a police patrol and told them about the incident,” she told prosecutors.

One of the policeman, who was in the patrol, told prosecutors that the student was barefoot, crying and confused when she told them about the incident.

The trial continues.
