Pharmacist sacked over irregularities

Dubai: The Ministry of Health has terminated the services of a pharmacist at a health care centre in the northern emirates over alleged malpractices. Other staff at the pharmacy were suspended pending investigations, according to a health ministry statement.

A committee, formed to control and supervise the financial and administrative violations, found several irregularities at the pharmacy.

During audit it was found that quantities of drugs were missing from the pharmacy, and some medicines were illegally distributed to outpatients. The committee also found drugs stowed away in the pharmacist's safe.
