Prices will be determined by DHA Director following approval from Department of Finance
Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday issued decree No 9 of 2012 approving the mechanism for pricing Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) fees for services.
The decree stipulates that prices of health services provided by the authority, such as diagnosis or treatment, will be set by the Director-General of DHA after a written approval is acquired from the Department of Finance. The decree states that the list of prices provided by the Department of Finance will serve as a guide for setting prices for DHA’s services.
The decree stipulates that patients or their insurance companies will bear the cost of rendered services. The Department of Finance will bear the cost for certain segments that do not have any insurance, such as Emiratis, holders of Emirati passports or those who attained a preliminary approval for a passport, GCC citizens, and patients admitted into a hospital during an emergency.
The Department will bear the costs of services provided to wives of Emirati citizens, wives of holders of Emirati passports who received a preliminary approval for a passport and their newborn regarding pregnancy and delivery expenses.
The decree annuls any article that contradicts its bylaws. The decree comes into effect from the date of its issuance and is to be published in the official gazette.
