Manila: The UAE affirmed its sincere desire to further strengthen its relations and cooperation with Philippines in all areas of mutual interest.

Philippines President Benigno Aquino yesterday received Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.

Aquino welcomed Shaikh Abdullah and assured him of Manila's keenness to further develop aspects of joint cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, investment in view of the growing UAE economic, tourism and trade weight in the region and rapid development and progress, which earn it a good reputation worldwide.

Shaikh Abdullah also met Vice-President Jejomar Binay and discussed bilateral relations with a focus on economic and investment sectors.

Writing in the guest register, Shaikh Abdullah highlighted UAE-Philippines relations, hoping they would see more progress for the best interests of both friendly peoples.

Shaikh Abdullah also met Alberto Romulo, Foreign Secretary.

They discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations, especially in the fields of investment, trade and renewable energy.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed the UAE's keenness on bolstering its relations towards broader avenues of cooperation in various fields.

They also explored ways to develop investment, economy, trade, tourism and agriculture, and the possibility to increase the number of flights between both countries and encouraging investments and industrial projects. Shaikh Abdullah highlighted the effective role of Filipino workforce in the country and their contributions to development projects.
