Al Nokhba supports education enhancement in science and engineering
Abu Dhabi: Fifty Emirati students were recently granted Al Nokhba scholarships to enable them to pursue advanced technology studies in universities abroad.
The scholarships were given to 36 male and 14 female students.
Al Nokhba which means "elite" in Arabic, allows students to receive education in science and engineering including chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering, electromechanical computer engineering, physics and materials sciences.
Internship
In addition to receiving full support for their studies, the Al Nokhba scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on internship at Globalfoundries, a semiconductor manufacturer owned by the Advanced Technology Investment Company (Atic), ensuring that they graduate with a high-level of understanding about the semiconductor and advanced technologies industry.
Successful graduates will also be eligible for guaranteed employment with Globalfoundries, or with other advanced technology companies nominated by Atic.
"The students selected have all demonstrated strong academic performance, leadership skills, and a passion for driving forward innovation in the fields of science and technology in the Emirate," Mona Majid Al Mansouri, Division Manager of Guidance and Scholarships in the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), said recently.
Initiative
"This programme is an important initiative that supports Adec's higher education agenda by providing our students with access to world-class educational institutions and by developing the human capital expertise required to make Abu Dhabi a global technology leader," she added.
