Dubai: A British visitor, who was twice taken to a hospital toilet to have 66 heroin capsules removed from his intestines, confessed in court on Tuesday that he had smuggled drugs.

"Yes that's true... I have no defence. I confess to that," the 54-year-old defendant said as he pleaded guilty to the charge of smuggling and possessing drugs before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

Prosecutors accused R.G. of smuggling heroin through Dubai International Airport's transit terminal. "I am guilty and I need a verdict," R.G. told presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout in courtroom four.

A scanning machine exposed the capsules which were hidden inside his bag, court records said.
