Muscat: Noel Sam Abraham, a tenth grade teenager from Indian School Darseit who went missing for 24 hours last Friday, is still under observation at Al Nahda Hospital and unlikely to appear for his tenth grade social studies examination.

“He is still under observation at the hospital,” the boy’s father Abraham Samuel told Gulf News on Monday.

When asked if his son would be able to sit for his exams, he replied: “As of now we don’t know.”

The Social Studies paper is scheduled for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the father told Gulf News that Noel was taken around by police with his mother as part of investigations into the case.

He denied rumours that the police had made any arrests. The case has become the talk of the town with citizens as well as expatriates following every detail through social media, local forums as well as mobile messaging applications. The photograph of the boy with hands and legs tied to a fence were circulated widely on Sunday.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) had no comments to make as investigations were ongoing.

Noel had gone to LuLu Hypermarket with his parents and younger brother. the 16-year-old sat in the car reading his study material as his parents and younger brother went shopping.

He was missing when his parents came out after shopping at around 11pm last Friday. Noel was found in the early hours of Sunday (around 1am) near mountains behind LuLu Hypermarket with his hands and legs tied with nylon ropes to the fence.
