Manama: Bahrain’s main university has pledged to refund the registration fees of 20 students who make their payment online.

The decision is part of the initiatives to encourage young people to use technology and to ease congestion caused by the presence of students in the facility to make the payment, the University of Bahrain said.

“The initiative follows last semester’s pattern, where the eGovernment Authority announced that 20 students will be given a full refund of course fees paid online within the August 8-24 period to register for the new academic year,” the university said.

The decision was taken based on statistics and registration data process during the last semesters, it added.

“Since the launch of online course payment service the process has significantly contributed in minimising congestion at the registration hall of the University of Bahrain,” Osama Al Jowder, Dean of Admission and Registration at the university, said. “The University of Bahrain strives to encourage youths to utilise modern technologies and benefit from the latest practices provided by the eGovernment Authority.”

New students need a valid student ID and a password to be able to use the online payment service. The online payment instructions are available on the website and the service allows them to print the academic-year schedule after paying the required fees.

“This e-service is periodically activated with the start of registration for each new semester for all students,” the university said.

Bahrain has won several awards for offering online services.
