Dubai: Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former cricketer, is once again the topic of conversation on social media in Pakistan after his latest interview with Daily Mail, a UK-based newspaper.

In the interview, he was quoted as saying: “Normally I don’t say anything about Reham, but I will say this: I’ve made some mistakes in my life, but my second marriage has to be the biggest.”

This started a conversation on twitter, with many tweeps speaking up in support of the politician.

Tweep @gbsaltlake wrote: “So finally Imran Khan gives an interview and says marrying Reham Khan was the biggest mistake of his life. Forget his friends and admirers. Even IK’s detractors won’t dispute that.”

@certifiedwhiner tweeted: “In an interview, Imran Khan finally spoke out about the biggest mistake of his life, marrying Reham! I mean all political differences aside but gotta commend him over his silence and resolve over the whole issue.”

Tweep @WaqasQadar added: “Imran Khan has said that he had made many mistakes in life but @RehamKhan1 was biggest among them. @ImranKhanPTI every one thinks the same whether supporter or hater, but divorcing well in time limited the damage.”

The interview has come just days before the country goes to poll on July 25 and a few days after Reham launched her controversial book. The tell-all memoir by her has been causing uproar in Pakistan for the past few months.

Apart from Reham, the PTI Chairman also spoke about his current wife and how he hadn’t seen her before marriage.

He was quoted as saying: “I did not catch a glimpse of my wife’s face until after we were married. I proposed to her without seeing her because she had never met me without her face being covered with a full veil.”

This fact has got social media users praising Khan.

Emin Raja posted on Facebook: “Khan not seeing Bushra’s face until after marriage and still leading a comparatively fulfilling life restores my faith in arranged marriages.”

However, there were those who were not happy. Naila Sahar posted on Facebook: “That’s the prospective First Lady for you, your representative to the world. ... reclusive, hidden. Because that’s how her husband likes it!”

Tweep @MarianaBaabar posted: “His comments are so sweet and out of a romance novel.”
