Dubai: Twitter users were shocked at the videos being circulated of a revenge murder that happened in broad daylight in the Indian city of Hyderabad.

In the video clips, two men are seen chasing a man on a busy road and using an axe to hack the man in full public view.

In a series of tweets, journalist T. S. Sudhir shared details of the horrifying incident. Tweeting using the handle, @Iamtssudhir, he shared various clips taken by passersby and said that the incident took place in the Rajendra Nagar area of Hyderabad.

He tweeted: “Warning: Very disturbing pictures. Murder on a busy road in #Hyderabad in front of a police vehicle. Shocking … Look at the body language of the guy after committing the crime. And the police vehicle just goes away. Am told this happened in Rajendra Nagar area. #hyderabadhorror”

Many tweeps also noticed the police car that was present at the scene and seemed to be driving away as the man was killed.

@AbdNaf3 tweeted: “What is the use of citywide patrols, cameras when this occurs in front of an officer and he does nothing? @hydcitypolice @KTRTRS @TelanganaCMO”

In a later tweet, @Iamtssudhir clarified the police’s stand: “The police defence is that the traffic cops went to fetch lathis [wooden sticks] but by the time they returned, the duo had killed Ramesh.”

He added that the man who was killed was involved in a murder last year and was attacked by the victim’s relatives.

Several users commented on the poor state of law and order that was evident from the video clips.

@Paul_Oommen tweeted: “Another brutal murder caught on camera in #Hyderabad. Assailant uses an axe to murder in broad daylight. Several stood watching, a cop stood helpless, a patrolling car drives by. One brave man showed courage to try to kick the assailant.”

@Aneel4213 wrote: “This is the state of law and order in Hyderabad”

@ravishendarkar added: “As a nation, India has failed to instil the ‘Fear of law’ concept in the minds of people which results in such crimes. Police take their own time in filing charge sheets and courts take 10 to 15 years for convictions, meanwhile accused will get bail and roam around freely.”
