Patna: Bihar’s Minister for Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs Sharwan Kumar cut a very sorry figure at a sporting event when he fell down in the presence of a large crowd when he kicked a football.

The video of the minister, a Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader considered close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has gone viral on the social media.

The minister was invited to inaugurate a football tournament being held at Rajgir in his home district of Nalanda early this week.

An impressive crowd was present at the ground to watch the inaugural match between two local teams. when the minister fell down while kicking the football to announce the formal start of the tournament.

Witnesses said the minister fell down apparently after his lower garment stuck in his feet. Kumar is one of the few ministers in Bihar who loves to wear a dhoti along with kurta.

Dhoti, a traditional male garment is a rectangular piece of unstitched cloth, usually around 4.5 metres long, wrapped and tied around the waist. It’s still in fashion in rural areas of India.
