Dubai: UAE residents spend a great deal of money on annual vacations, with the average holidaymaker estimated to splash about Dh10,000 on every trip abroad.

The good news is that airlines roll out money-saving deals several times a year, and if you want to go on a holiday this summer and haven’t secured a ticket yet, it may not be too late to make some travel arrangements.

flydubai has extended its “companion fares” offer and flyers can now score business class tickets for just a little over Dh1,700 for select destinations. The carrier also has economy class tickets to neighbouring cities that cost as low as Dh705 a pop.

Also up for grabs and expiring very soon are Emirate’s budget fares ranging between Dh905 and Dh1,515 for flights to different cities in the Middle East and South Asia, and between Dh1,935 and Dh2,495 for trips to select Southeast Asian and European holiday hotspots.

Planning your trip? Here are public holidays this year

Flydubai said it is giving budget travellers until July 21 this month to secure their bookings at 50 per cent less.

Published price is for two passengers.

Through the companion fares promo, flyers bound to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, can secure a business class seat for Dh1,731.50 per person, provided they book for two adult passengers at once. Booking a similar ticket at a major airline at this time of year can easily set one back more than Dh6,000.

Kerala, India

The UAE government has recently lifted the travel advisory to Kerala this month after the South Indian state announced it had successfully contained the brain-damaging Nipah virus.

How to get a seat upgrade

UAE residents eyeing a trip to Georgia can fly business to Tbilisi for just a little over Dh3,800 per person, while those planning a holiday in other European cities, such as Sofia in Bulgaria or Thessaloniki in Greece, can book a premium seat for a little over Dh5,000 or Dh6,000 per person.

Published rate is for two passengers.

For those who aren’t buying for two people, there are other budget fares available. flydubai is offering economy fares for trips to Bahrain for Dh805, Kuwait for Dh705, Oman for Dh850 and Saudi Arabia for Dh830.
