Dubai: The UAE and fellow Muslim countries will observe the first day of Ramadan on May 17, as residents on Wednesday got ready for the holy month.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to Twitter to wish everyone in the UAE a blessed Ramadan.
The UAE Vice President also took the opportunity to extend his greetings to the Arab and Muslim world, and to request Allah to gather hearts together.
“I congratulate the people of the UAE, Arabs and Muslims for the holy month of Ramadan. By the grace of Allah, we will continue to work for the good of the country and for its people,” he said.

UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also sent congratulatory messages to the Kings, Emirs and Presidents of Arab and Islamic nations, on the occasion of Ramadan.
In his messages, Shaikh Khalifa wished the leaders and their people continued good health and well-being, as well as further progress and prosperity for Arab and Islamic nations.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE, sent similar messages to Muslim leaders to mark Ramadan.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, used Instagram stories to celebrate Ramadan.
And on a more light-hearted note, Shaikh Hamdan posted a cup of freshly0brewed coffee with the caption, “I will miss you”.
