Let’s talk chocolates. Have you eaten the Dubai Chocolate? The OG from FIX Dessert Chocolatier. I haven’t. I have had several knockoffs; some of them are good. Now, I can’t wait to have the original.

What makes the Dubai Chocolate a global sensation? I wondered. As a chocolate lover, I initially baulked at the idea of a kunafa filling. I don’t mind pistachios, which is why the Snickers is one of my favourites. But kunafa, how would it taste? I wondered.

Why Dubai chocolate rocks

I love kunafa, but a kunafa wrapped in chocolate! How would it taste? The best way to find out was a taste test. I did, and I liked it. The texture was a bit wafer-like, more like a KitKat. But there was much more to it: it was bursting with flavours, with the nutty taste of pistachio and the texture of kunafa seducing my tastebuds.

It was amazing! I never expected the kunafa to blend so well with chocolate. Needless to say, I ate some with unbridled glee.

I’m a chocolate purist; I prefer them the way they are. The only exception was Snickers because it reminds me of peanut chikkis (peanuts with jaggery) — a childhood favourite. I also don’t mind flavours like Orange, but a kunafa blend was a whole new experience.

The Dubai chocolate rocks. No doubt about it.

I didn’t like variations like Kunafa Bun and Kunafa Doughnuts? The kunafa filling wasn’t on the same level. Worse, there was no chocolate shell, which makes a huge difference, and the green pistachio kunafa filling elevates it to a whole new level.

If the knockoffs are so good, the original must be even better. Especially since people are drooling about it. That tells me that I should try the OG soon.

How do I get it? The FIX Dessert Chocolatier makes only online deliveries. Word has it that I could snag some by swinging through the Dubai airport.

I will keep you updated. How did you like the Dubai Chocolate?
