Actor Jayam Ravi, also known as Ravi Mohan, has issued a lengthy statement on Instagram following backlash over his recent public appearance with rumoured girlfriend Keneeshaa Francis. His post comes after his estranged wife, Aarti Ravi, publicly addressed the situation, prompting a flurry of online speculation.

In his statement, Ravi claimed he had endured years of emotional, physical, and financial abuse during his marriage to Aarti, describing Keneeshaa as his "lifeline" who helped him break free from what he called an unbearable reality.

Ravi and Aarti were married in 2009 and separated in 2024.

‘My silence was survival’

Ravi began his note by expressing distress over the intense scrutiny his personal life has attracted:

“Watching my private life turned into gossip, twisted without truth or compassion, has been deeply traumatic. My silence was not a weakness—it was survival. But when my integrity is questioned by those who don’t know my journey or my scars, I must speak.”

‘Years of abuse and isolation’

He went on to detail the alleged suffering he endured during the marriage:

“As an adult and as a survivor of years of physical, mental, emotional and severe financial abuse, I was also caged in isolation from even meeting my own parents. I made every sincere attempt to heal and save my marriage, but ultimately, the situation became unlivable.”

He accused unnamed individuals of manipulating public sentiment for “cheap sympathy” and “borrowed fame,” adding that walking away from the marriage was not a decision he took lightly.

“Choosing to walk away was not a decision I made lightly. And so, I write this to you with a heavy heart.”

Ravi’s statement follows an emotional post from a friend of Keneeshaa Francis, who recently defended her against online attacks, calling out the “vulgar” way people have reacted to her relationship with the actor.
