R & B singer with a history of violence is yet to comment on bar brawl with music producer
American R&B singer Chris Brown has been arrested in the UK in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023, according to a report in BBC.
The 36-year-old performer was taken into custody in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, at a hotel in Manchester. Authorities say he is being held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm related to an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at a venue in Hanover Square, central London.
BBC cited a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police, who confirmed: “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains.”
The investigation is being handled by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.
The alleged victim, music producer Abe Diaw, previously told The Sun that Brown struck him over the head with a bottle before launching a further assault while he was on the ground. Diaw claimed the attack left him with serious injuries, including a collapsed knee, requiring hospital treatment and the use of crutches.
Brown, known for chart-topping hits such as Beautiful People, No Air, Under The Influence, and Run It, is currently in the UK as part of his ongoing tour, with several concerts scheduled across June and July.
As of now, representatives for Brown have not issued a public statement regarding the arrest.
