Dubai: The iconic Bollywood film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or DDLJ, turns 30 this year, making it the longest-running film in Indian cinema.

And to celebrate this milestone, a statue of both the actors, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, will be installed at London’s “Scenes in the Square” movie trail, at Leicester Square.

The bronze statues of the duo will join other sculptures on the movie trail which include Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, and more. This also makes DDLJ the first Indian film to be honoured at the movie trail.

According to British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the deputy chief executive at Heart of London Business Alliance, Mark Williams said, “It is one of the most successful and important Bollywood films of all time.

Akshay Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj Films said, “We’re thrilled to be the first Indian film to be represented in ‘Scenes in the Square.’ It also marks 30 years of DDLJ, a film that has spread love and joy globally and shows the cultural impact it has had in the U.K,” according to American magazine Variety.

The 1995 film is also reported to have a musical theatre adaptation of the film, Come Fall In Love – The DDLJ Musical, at the Manchester Opera House on May 29.
