Abu Dhabi: Hilton Worldwide, a US-based hotel operator, said it was considering bringing its recently-launched brands, Canopy by Hilton, and Curio to the UAE.

Speaking to Gulf News on Wednesday, Christian Grage, vice-president of operations in the Arabian Peninsula, said the company was “keen on looking at opportunities [in the UAE],” and will disclose the details in due course.

Curio is expected to mark its debut in the Middle East in early 2016 in Qatar, while Canopy, which was launched in October 2014, is set to have a location in London that is the only one outside the US.

Discussing Hilton Garden Inn, the company’s mid-priced hotel brand, Grage said a third location is expected to open in Dubai in 2016 in line with the government’s strategy of having more affordable accommodation.

“If we find suitable opportunities to bring [Garden Inn] to Abu Dhabi, we will definitely look into these opportunities. What we have coming up in Abu Dhabi is a DoubleTree in Masdar City, and the Hilton in Saadiyat Island,” Grage said.

He added, “Overall, the outlook for the sector is very positive. It’s good to see how existing markets have been reliable and able to grow. At the same time, you see new markets coming in globally into the UAE.”
