Emirates adds retrofitted Boeing 777 to Madrid route from September 16

Dubai: Emirates will begin operating its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft on flights to and from Madrid starting September 16, making the Spanish capital the airline’s first destination in Spain to receive its updated cabin experience.

The refurbished Boeing 777, featuring Emirates’ four-class configuration, includes the airline’s highly rated Premium Economy cabin, redesigned Business Class seats, an upgraded First Class experience, and refreshed Economy seating.

Flight EK143 will depart Dubai daily at 14:30 and arrive in Madrid at 20:20 local time, while the return flight EK144 will leave Madrid at 22:05 and land in Dubai at 07:10 the following day.

Cabin overhaul part of wider upgrade

The move is part of Emirates’ broader multibillion-dollar cabin retrofit programme, which aims to modernise more than 220 aircraft in its fleet. So far, the airline has upgraded 61 aircraft — 31 A380s and 30 Boeing 777s — under this initiative.

With the updated interiors, passengers can expect:

  • A refreshed First Class with luxury detailing

  • New Business Class seating in a 1-2-1 layout

  • Premium Economy featuring cream leather seats, extended legroom, and deeper recline

  • Updated Economy Class with improved ergonomics

The airline also continues to offer regionally inspired meals, a premium drinks list, and its award-winning ICE inflight entertainment system, which includes over 6,500 channels and more than 260 channels in Spanish.

Flights are now open for booking through the Emirates website, mobile app, contact centres, travel agents, and retail outlets.
