Dubai: Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a busy end-of-summer period, expecting more than 3.6 million travellers between 13 and 25 August, as families conclude their vacations and students return to the city ahead of the new school term.

Daily passenger traffic is forecast to average 280,000, with Friday, 15 August, expected to be the busiest day, exceeding 290,000 travellers.

This back-to-school surge follows a record-breaking first half of 2025, during which Dubai welcomed 9.88 million international overnight visitors—a 6% increase compared to the same period last year—and DXB handled over 46 million passengers, solidifying its position as the world’s busiest international airport.

Dubai Airports is coordinating with the oneDXB community—including airlines, regulatory authorities, and commercial partners—to ensure a smooth travel experience during this peak period.

Top tips for travellers at DXB:

  • Smart Gates: Children over 12 can use Smart Gates to speed up passport control.

  • Documents ready: Keep passports, boarding passes, and visas accessible to ease clearance.

  • Airport experience: Take advantage of lounges, dining, shopping, and duty-free outlets.

  • Transport options: Use the Dubai Metro (Terminals 1 and 3), Uber, Careem, RTA taxis, or car rentals for convenient access.

  • Support for People of Determination: Enhanced assistance includes marked accessibility routes, discreet support for guests wearing Sunflower Lanyards, and a dedicated Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2.

With preparations in place, DXB aims to ensure a seamless journey for residents and visitors returning to Dubai as the school year begins.
